Tchad’s digital leap: validating the roadmap for tech education transformation

In a bold move toward modernizing its technical and vocational education system, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training convened a landmark national workshop in N’Djamena to review and endorse a critical diagnostic report. The gathering, held on July 10, 2026, brought together key stakeholders to refine a foundational document that will shape the future of digital learning in Tchad’s EFTP (Enseignement et Formation Techniques et Professionnels) sector.

The initiative aligns with the Pan-African Digital Transformation Initiative for TVET, a collaborative effort supported by prominent organizations including UNESCO, the African Union, and the African Development Bank. The preparatory phase engaged over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (CFTP) across all national academies, combining field assessments with digital surveys to capture a comprehensive snapshot of the current landscape.

The workshop’s opening address was delivered by Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, representing the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized the urgent need to integrate digital tools into education systems, describing it as a strategic imperative for adapting to rapid technological shifts and evolving job markets. Dr. Gabriel highlighted both progress and persistent hurdles—such as governance gaps, digital infrastructure deficits, energy shortages, and the need for educator upskilling—calling on attendees to collaborate in crafting a practical, inclusive, and nationally relevant strategy.

The validated report will serve as the cornerstone for developing a National Digital Transformation Strategy for EFTP, paired with a detailed action plan spanning 2026–2030. The overarching goal? To equip Tchad with a dynamic, high-performing technical education framework that meets the demands of a rapidly changing economy.
