The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Vocational Training convened a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026, to review and validate the ground assessment report for the upcoming National Strategy on Digital Transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The session brought together key sector stakeholders to refine and endorse a document that will shape the future of digital-driven TVET policies in Chad.
This initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET Systems, supported by major partners including UNESCO, the International Organisation of La Francophonie, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA program. The overarching goal is to modernise Chad’s technical and vocational education sustainably, ensuring it meets evolving workforce demands.
The preliminary study engaged over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (TVTCs) and supporting structures across all national academies. Data was gathered through field missions and digital surveys, providing a comprehensive snapshot of the sector’s current state.
Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics and Digitalisation, representing the Secretary of State for Higher Education, opened the proceedings. He emphasised the strategic importance of digital transformation in aligning education systems with technological advancements and emerging job markets. The government’s commitment to leveraging digital tools as a catalyst for TVET modernisation was reiterated.
The analysis report highlights significant progress but also identifies critical challenges, including governance gaps, digital infrastructure deficiencies, connectivity issues, energy access limitations, trainer capacity gaps, and the integration of digital skills into curricula. Participants were urged to contribute insights to refine the document into a practical, inclusive and nationally relevant strategy.
Once finalised, the validated report will serve as the foundation for Chad’s National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET, outlining a detailed action plan for 2026–2030. The vision is clear: to equip Chad with a cutting-edge, high-performing TVET system that aligns seamlessly with labour market needs.
