Yopougon is gearing up to host a historic celebration this year. On Saturday, July 25, 2026, Adama Bictogo, Deputy Mayor of Yopougon, will embark on an extensive political tour across the commune. This initiative is part of the preparations for the 66th anniversary of Côte d’Ivoire’s independence, set to take place on August 7 in this bustling district of Abidjan.
The tour aims to engage militants from four major political parties represented in Yopougon. According to a press release from the Deputy Mayor’s office, Bictogo will meet with members of the Pan-African Congress for Justice and Equality of Peoples (COJEP), the Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire-Rally of the Republicans (PDCI-RDA), the Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace (RHDP), and the Ivorian Popular Front (FPI).
The itinerary is carefully structured to ensure maximum participation. The day will begin at 11:00 AM with discussions at COJEP’s meeting point in Kouté. Next, Bictogo will visit Sicogi Vegas at 3:00 PM to engage with PDCI-RDA militants. The tour continues at 4:00 PM with a stop at the RHDP headquarters, concluding at 5:00 PM in the Maroc Kimi neighborhood for a session with FPI members.
This initiative underscores a broader commitment to inclusivity. The local organizing committee for the national celebration has made it a priority to involve all political factions in Yopougon, ensuring the event transcends partisan divides. During that session, Bictogo emphasized the importance of unified coordination, stating, « Success depends on a single command structure, » while urging all parties to adopt a « message of peace and togetherness. »
He further clarified that this collective effort is not tied to any single political group. « This isn’t about benefiting one party over another—it’s about elevating us all, » he remarked.
