The Association of Young Burkinabe in Bergamo (AJBB) has officially announced its inaugural Cultural Symposium, a landmark event poised to significantly advance the global structure of Burkinabe culture. This pivotal international gathering is scheduled to take place in Italy on January 31 and February 1, 2026, following its public announcement during a press conference held on Thursday, January 8, 2025.

More than just a celebration, this groundbreaking symposium emerges from a deep desire for critical reflection and strategic dialogue. Louré Toubga, Secretary General of the AJBB, emphasized that the initiative was conceived to bring together key diaspora stakeholders for crucial discussions on challenges faced by the Burkinabe community in Bergamo and across broader international contexts.

A significant issue highlighted is the current lack of coordination among cultural events. “It frequently happens that multiple events are scheduled on the same dates, leading to disorganization,” explained Mr. Toubga. Therefore, a core objective of the symposium is to foster synergy, ensuring a more cohesive and professional approach to future cultural endeavors by the Burkinabe diaspora.

Daouda Compaoré, president of the AJBB

This symposium is envisioned as far more than a mere gathering; it aims to equip key cultural stakeholders, whether residing in Africa or Europe, with a concrete roadmap for future initiatives. Daouda Compaoré, President of the AJBB, underscored the significant importance of this endeavor.

Our goal is to lay the foundation for a sustainable, recurring event. The collective commitment of our youth and partners will be instrumental in making this inaugural edition a resounding success, ultimately enhancing Burkina Faso’s cultural influence and visibility throughout Europe.”

The event’s program promises to be comprehensive and multifaceted, structured around two distinct yet complementary dimensions.

The strategic component will focus on in-depth discussions, featuring engaging round tables, specialized thematic workshops, and insightful conferences. These sessions are designed to collaboratively develop actionable solutions for cultural practitioners and organizations.

Concurrently, a festive and prestigious dimension will elevate the gathering, including a sophisticated gala dinner, captivating live artistic performances, an inspiring fashion show, and a celebratory awards ceremony recognizing contributions to Burkinabe culture.
