André Luther Meka, spokesperson for the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (RDPC), expressed outrage over the French language proficiency of Mamadou Mota, the vice-president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC).

The criticism came after Mota appeared on the program ‘La Vérité en face’ on Equinoxe TV on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

In a social media post, Meka wrote: ‘I followed the show with great interest. I am outraged by Mamadou Mota’s butchery of the French language, his disregard for morphosyntax and conceptual mastery. It was a true massacre of the language of Ronsard and Lamartine. The peak of mediocrity was on display last Sunday. Good heavens!’

During the Sunday broadcast, Mamadou Mota defended the return of Maurice Kamto to the presidency of the MRC, despite internal dissent led by some officials including Willy Mengue.
