Cameroon Renaissance Movement’s new commission chair addresses Kamto’s party exit

Pierre Emmanuel Binyam, newly appointed leader of the Clarification and Restoration Commission created by Maurice Kamto, recently discussed the former party president’s exit from the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC) to join the National Initiative for Development and Emergence (Manidem) and pursue a 2026 presidential bid. The candidacy was ultimately rejected by electoral authorities.

«The departure of President Maurice Kamto from the party was not a resignation in the sense of turning his back on the movement. We sent him on a mission. Now, after recent developments, he has returned. We have requested that he complete his mandate,» Binyam stated.

The MRC member emphasized that Kamto’s disqualification from the presidential race had deeply shaken party members.

«The rejection of Maurice Kamto’s candidacy left a profound impact on us. The disqualification of our candidate—who polls had widely predicted would win both nationally and internationally—has left an indelible mark on the party,» he added.
