As of 20 June 2026, the most significant progress on this project is the near-completion of the bridge supports. Teams from CHINA HARBOUR ENGINEERING COMPANY CAMEROUN are working intensively to finish the structure.
Beyond this milestone, additional geotechnical studies are being carried out, while detailed design work has reached 60% completion. All 20 piles are finished, and the contractor has started work on the access road on the Bissombo side: reinforcing the wingwalls of the culvert at PK 0+669, placing replacement material after excavation at the culvert at PK 0+818, and crushing 0/250 aggregates.
The project involves building a 90-metre bridge and 3 km of access roads. Once completed, it will help structure the Assok–Ngombo axis in the Dja-et-Lobo department, South region. The total cost of the works, including tax, is estimated at 10,530,686,344 FCFA.
In addition to the bridge, the access roads will be upgraded over 1,000 metres (500 metres on each side of the structure), with a two-lane carriageway 7 metres wide and 1.5-metre shoulders surfaced with a double coat seal. The project also includes drainage structures: two culverts of type 2 x 2.00 x 1.50, two culverts of type 2 x 2.00 x 2.00, and the construction of an access dike on the riverbanks.
