Rabat hosts the 3rd arab postal leaders forum
This two-day gathering focuses on adapting postal systems to rapid digital shifts driven by booming e-commerce and digital economies.

Opening ceremony of the arab postal leaders forum in Rabat, June 23, 2026.
The event, themed “Transforming postal supply chains for a digital commerce-centered future,” brings together key stakeholders to explore strategies for modernizing postal services amid the rapid expansion of e-commerce and digital transactions.
According to industry experts, the forum provides a critical platform to enhance coordination among postal operators across the arab world. The goal is to create a more integrated, efficient, and resilient postal and logistics ecosystem capable of meeting global challenges.
Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour emphasized the need for smart, interconnected infrastructure and advanced digital solutions to keep pace with evolving consumer behaviors and cross-border digital trade. “Under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is committed to modernizing its postal and logistics sector, strengthening e-commerce, and advancing digital transformation in line with international best practices,” he stated.
Amin Benjelloun Touimi, Director General of Barid Al-Maghrib, highlighted the sector’s key challenges: modernizing logistics networks, adopting artificial intelligence, leveraging data analytics, and fostering collaboration with transport, technology, and e-commerce players. “Enhancing coordination between postal institutions and building partnerships is essential to unlock the region’s postal sector potential,” he noted.
Masahiko Metoki, UPU Director General, underscored the transformative impact of digital technologies and evolving consumer expectations on global trade. He stressed that the future of postal services hinges on innovation, digital interoperability, and public-private partnerships, reaffirming the UPU’s commitment to supporting the arab region’s transformation journey.
The forum also featured a joint stamp issuance ceremony by Morocco and Mauritania, attended by Mauripost Director General Alioune Ould Issa.
This year’s edition in Rabat aligns with Morocco’s vision of digital transformation and economic integration as key drivers of sustainable development. It follows previous forums held in Oman (2024) and Qatar (2025), reflecting the arab world’s dedication to strengthening postal and logistics cooperation.
Discussions will focus on modernizing supply chains, integrating AI and data analytics, supporting cross-border e-commerce, and improving access for small and medium enterprises to regional and global markets. Participants will also address financing mechanisms for modernization projects and strategies to enhance the competitiveness of the arab postal sector.
The forum will culminate in the adoption of actionable recommendations and a 2026-2027 cooperation roadmap aimed at fostering a more innovative, resilient, and future-ready arab postal ecosystem.
The opening ceremony was attended by directors general of 14 arab postal operators, representatives of the UPU, the League of Arab States, postal regulators, and national and international dignitaries.
