President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Sénégal has terminated the mandate of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, as announced by the presidential office in the evening of May 22, 2026.
This decision also includes the dissolution of the entire government, according to a statement delivered by the Secretary-General of the Presidency, Oumar Samba Ba, on national broadcaster RTS. Current government members have been instructed to handle only urgent matters until a new cabinet is formed.
