World Vision Tchad has unveiled its groundbreaking five-year strategy (2026-2030) aimed at transforming the lives of an unprecedented 3.29 million children across the nation. This ambitious roadmap represents a 20% increase in reach compared to previous initiatives, targeting particularly vulnerable populations while fostering sustainable development through a holistic approach integrating humanitarian aid, peacebuilding and long-term community resilience.
Launch Ceremony in N’Djamena Marks New Era for Child Development
The strategy was formally introduced during a high-profile press conference held at N’Djamena’s prestigious Résidence Hôtel, bringing together national authorities, technical partners and media representatives. Speaking at the event, Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for West Africa, described the initiative as “bold and visionary,” emphasizing its foundation in the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus. This innovative framework aims to bridge emergency interventions with sustainable development initiatives while addressing root causes of vulnerability.
Edouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, hailed the launch as a “historic milestone” for both the organization and the nation’s children. “Our goal is simple yet profound: every child in Tchad should not merely survive, but thrive,” he stated. The strategy targets 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million from the most marginalized communities, where poverty, malnutrition and climate vulnerability remain pervasive challenges.
Core Pillars of the 2026-2030 Strategy
The comprehensive roadmap is built on four strategic pillars designed to address Tchad’s most pressing child welfare challenges:
- Health & Nutrition: Strengthening maternal and child health services while combating acute malnutrition through integrated community health programs
- Education & Literacy: Expanding the Unlock Literacy program to enhance early childhood reading skills and reduce school dropouts
- Child Protection: Implementing comprehensive measures to safeguard children from violence, exploitation and harmful practices
- Climate Resilience: Building community adaptation strategies to mitigate environmental shocks and ensure sustainable livelihoods
Aligned with National and Global Development Goals
The strategy deliberately aligns with Tchad’s Vision 2030 framework and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13 and 16). By integrating emergency response with long-term development initiatives, World Vision Tchad aims to create sustainable pathways out of poverty while addressing systemic issues affecting children’s well-being.
Addressing the nation’s stark realities, Wangoy noted that 42% of Tchadians live below the poverty line, with persistent food insecurity and recurring humanitarian crises exacerbating vulnerabilities. “This strategy represents our commitment to turning these challenges into opportunities for lasting change,” he asserted.
Call for Collective Action
Concluding the launch, World Vision Tchad officials emphasized the critical need for multi-stakeholder collaboration. They urged government agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, religious leaders and media outlets to join forces in implementing this transformative agenda. “Only through unified action can we convert today’s challenges into tomorrow’s sustainable opportunities for Tchad’s children,” stated a senior program coordinator.
