Chad presidential pardon: RNDT-Le Réveil welcomes political thaw
The RNDT-Le Réveil party has praised the announcement of a presidential pardon decree on August 14, 2026, viewing it as a positive step toward political openness and national reconciliation in Chad.

The RNDT-Le Réveil party has warmly welcomed the presidential pardon decree issued on August 14, 2026, which grants clemency to multiple detainees, including prominent political figures. This move fulfills the commitment announced by Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno on August 11, aligning with the call for national reconciliation voiced by party leader Pahimi Padacké Albert on August 8.
In an official statement, the party commended the decision, describing it as an act that « upholds public commitments » and signals a promising shift toward greater political inclusivity in Chad.
The RNDT-Le Réveil now urges the Head of State to sustain this momentum by initiating inclusive dialogues with all national stakeholders. The party reaffirms its readiness to engage in building a united Chad, emphasizing that the nation’s diversity of perspectives is a strength rather than a division.
