Chad’s government has launched a renewed offensive against human trafficking, with a special focus on protecting women and children. Authorities are tightening enforcement of existing laws, backed by a circular issued to security and judicial officials outlining critical measures to be implemented without delay.

Human trafficking remains a severe violation of human rights, frequently involving sexual exploitation and forced labor. As a signatory to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime since 2009, Chad has enacted stringent legislation, including Ordinance No. 006/PR/2018 and Law No. 12/PR/2018, to combat this scourge.

Under the new directives, law enforcement must prioritize swift investigations, prepare detailed reports, and ensure cases are promptly transferred to competent courts. Every identified case must also be reported to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and the National Commission Against Human Trafficking for rigorous monitoring and follow-up.

Provincial delegates have been tasked with ensuring strict adherence to these guidelines. The initiative is designed to establish a comprehensive national database, forming the backbone of a more effective anti-trafficking strategy in Chad.
