Delegation of powers within Côte d’Ivoire’s PPA-CI
Laurent Gbagbo, former President of Côte d’Ivoire and current leader of the Parti des peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), has announced a significant restructuring of leadership responsibilities within his party. In a formal statement, he delegated key prerogatives to five prominent political figures, signaling a move toward collective governance.
Five leaders entrusted with expanded roles
According to the official communiqué from the PPA-CI, the appointments reflect a strategic division of duties aimed at strengthening internal cohesion and operational efficiency. Mr. Assoa Adou has been designated as the first vice-president, with a mandate to oversee compliance with the party’s statutes and internal regulations across all organs and cadres. Mr. Hubert Oulaye, meanwhile, assumes the role of second vice-president, responsible for party affairs and presiding over meetings of the central committee.
The restructuring also includes the appointment of Mr. Dano Djédjé Sébastien as president of the strategic and political council. His responsibilities encompass the overall direction and supervision of the party’s activities.
In addition to these three key appointments, two other officials have been assigned specific roles to support the new leadership framework, further emphasizing the party’s commitment to a unified and collaborative approach.
A vision rooted in collective strength
Speaking on the rationale behind the decision, Laurent Gbagbo emphasized that the changes were designed to foster a more inclusive and collegial leadership model. “This redistribution of responsibilities reflects our determination to build a leadership grounded in shared accountability, complementary strengths, and unified action,” he stated.
He further underscored the belief that the party’s resilience and effectiveness depend not on the actions of a single individual but on the collective capacity of its leaders and members to work in harmony toward a common vision. “Together, we can overcome challenges. Through unity, discipline, and coordinated effort, the PPA-CI will not only withstand adversity but also serve the people of Côte d’Ivoire more effectively,” he added.
