The Malian Armed Forces have declared a decisive shift in their operations, asserting full control over critical regions previously targeted by militant groups in the north and central zones of the country.
In an official statement, the FAMA confirmed sustained engagements on Sunday near Anifif, located in the northeastern part of Mali, approximately 110 kilometers south of Kidal. The update followed the arrival of additional personnel and military resources for the Front de Libération de l’Azawad.
The army’s communiqué emphasized the resilience of its units, stating: « Despite intensified pressure, Malian Armed Forces units pressed forward with unwavering determination, sustaining combat operations throughout the day with discipline and valor. »
The statement reaffirmed the military’s absolute confidence in its ability to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty, protect civilians, and dismantle enemy forces. Confidence in the FAMA’s strategic capabilities underscored the government’s commitment to restoring stability across the territory.
The Front de Libération de l’Azawad’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, had previously claimed control over Anifif following renewed clashes. However, the group swiftly denied reports of the death of its leader, Mbarek Ag Akli, insisting he remains actively engaged in directing operations in northern Mali.
