After securing their second consecutive Champions League title, Paris Saint-Germain are planning an active summer transfer window. The Parisian club aims to refresh Luis Enrique’s squad for the upcoming season and has therefore explored several options, including a move for Mateus Fernandes. However, a Premier League heavyweight appears to be in the driving seat for the 21-year-old attacking midfielder’s transfer.

Manchester United in pole position for Mateus Fernandes?

According to sources close to the situation, Manchester United are currently in pole position for Mateus Fernandes. The West Ham player reportedly has a clear preference for a switch to Old Trafford, despite interest from Tottenham and other clubs this summer. As a result, PSG appear to be losing ground to the Premier League giants in this particular pursuit.

PSG advancing on other targets

In the meantime, PSG continue to make progress on other transfer fronts. The capital club are believed to be in a strong position regarding the potential arrivals of Yan Diomandé from RB Leipzig and Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco. The Ivorian international and the Monaco attacking midfielder are both said to be keen on joining the double European champions this summer. The combined cost of those two deals could reach around €200 million. More to follow.
