Morocco joins international stabilization force in Gaza
This landmark agreement establishes the legal framework for Morocco’s involvement, reinforcing its commitment to humanitarian and security efforts aimed at fostering lasting peace and stability in the region.
In a significant move for regional security, high-ranking Moroccan officials formalized the Kingdom’s participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) for Gaza. The signing ceremony took place in Rabat, marking a pivotal moment in Morocco’s contribution to international peace efforts.
The agreement was signed by Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, alongside Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration. The ceremony was attended by senior military leaders, including the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the Commanding Officer of the Royal Gendarmerie.
Representatives from the Gaza Peace Council and the ISF Command were also present, underscoring the collaborative nature of this initiative.
Strengthening Commitment to Regional Stability
The agreement signed in Rabat establishes the legal and operational framework for Morocco’s involvement in the ISF. It reflects a shared determination to enhance security and humanitarian conditions in Gaza through concrete actions.
During the meeting, Moroccan officials emphasized the Kingdom’s long-standing experience in peacekeeping operations under the United Nations umbrella. They highlighted Morocco’s consistent regional and international contributions to peace and stability, including initiatives championed by His Majesty the King, particularly those aimed at fostering regional integration and social progress.
Military and Humanitarian Contributions
Morocco’s participation will include the deployment of senior officers from the FAR to the ISF joint command, as well as personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the National Security Directorate (DGSN). Additionally, the Kingdom will establish a field military hospital to support medical and humanitarian needs in the region.
The Gaza Peace Council and ISF Command officials praised Morocco’s decision, recognizing it as a vital contribution to the stabilization efforts in Gaza. The agreement was finalized with the signing of the participation accord, solidifying Morocco’s role in this international initiative.
