Bénin reviews mid-term progress of 2026 interior ministry plan
The Ministry of the Interior and Public Security in Bénin has launched a mid-term evaluation of its 2026 Annual Work Plan (PTA) at a three-day workshop in Cotonou. The review, held from August 4 to 6, 2026, brings together key stakeholders to assess progress, identify challenges, and implement corrective measures for the second half of the year.
Minister Djibril Mama Cissé Moussa opened the session, presenting a financial performance report as of June 30, 2026, alongside an assessment of public procurement execution. The workshop involves program managers, senior officials, and spending chain actors, focusing on the extent to which 2026 objectives and indicators have been met during the first half of the year.
The review also examines discrepancies between projections and actual outcomes, analyzes implementation constraints, and outlines corrective actions to enhance performance in the remaining months of the fiscal year.
Integrated budgetary oversight drives accountability
During the opening ceremony, Minister Djibril Mama Cissé emphasized the role of mid-term reviews in strengthening public sector accountability and efficiency. He highlighted the need for performance-driven governance, particularly as citizen expectations for security and transparency continue to rise.
Abdel Nasser Samary, Director of Planning, Administration, and Finance, confirmed that this review aligns with the ministry’s medium-term spending framework updates. Discussions will continue through August 6, covering program management principles and the presentation of progress reports. Participants will also assess the new decree outlining the ministry’s functions, organization, and newly established structures.
By fostering transparency and continuous improvement, the Interior Ministry aims to ensure that its 2026 plan remains on track to deliver tangible results for the people of Bénin.
