In a dedicated effort to monitor major initiatives aimed at modernizing Bénin’s national road network, Georges Alé, the Minister of Living Environment and Transport, conducted a comprehensive inspection tour last Tuesday. His visit focused on three crucial construction sites, underscoring technical excellence, environmental protection, public health considerations, and strict adherence to contractual timelines.
The ministerial delegation’s initial stop brought them to the Djonou bridge, situated within the Abomey-Calavi commune. At this location, dredging operations have been successfully brought to completion. This vital intervention has effectively cleared the waterway, ensuring superior rainwater drainage and significantly enhancing the structural integrity and safety of the bridge itself.
Minister Georges Alé then proceeded to the construction site for the 2×2 lane expansion of the Missessinto-Allada (RNIE2) section, a project being executed by the joint venture SCET Tunisie / BECI BTP. While acknowledging the commendable progress and positive momentum of the work, Minister Alé firmly reiterated the imperative of scrupulously adhering to the established contractual schedule. His objective is to swiftly deliver a modern and secure thoroughfare for the benefit of all road users.
The inspection concluded at the Allada roundabout and the associated retention basins developed in the vicinity. Demonstrating keen attention to sanitation concerns, the minister issued directives to the technical teams, urging them to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health. This proactive partnership aims to anticipate and mitigate any potential health risks that could arise from stagnant water accumulation.
