Diplomatic relations between Burkina Faso and Italy reached new heights as the two nations commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic on June 2, 2026, in Ouagadougou. The evening event, hosted by the Italian Embassy, brought together government officials from Burkina Faso, members of the diplomatic corps, and Italian expatriates to celebrate the enduring friendship and shared history between the two countries.

Representing Burkina Faso’s government, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bêbgnasgnan Stella Eldine Kabré/Kaboré, attended the gathering, which blended moments of reflection, camaraderie, and celebration of the deep-rooted ties between Ouagadougou and Rome.

Addressing the audience, Italian Ambassador to Burkina Faso Gabriele Di Muzio highlighted the strength of bilateral cooperation, particularly through initiatives led by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. He underscored Italy’s commitment to supporting Burkina Faso in stabilization efforts, humanitarian aid, and socioeconomic progress. « Supporting the people of Burkina Faso is the core mission of our diplomatic mission here. We envision a lasting partnership built on shared values and mutual respect », he stated.

In her speech, Deputy Minister Kabré/Kaboré conveyed the congratulations of Burkina Faso’s President and citizens to the Italian community. She praised the vitality of a cooperation rooted in solidarity, mutual trust, and a shared drive to foster development.

Kabré/Kaboré also spotlighted Burkina Faso’s investment potential across key sectors, urging Italian business leaders to explore opportunities facilitated by the government to deepen economic exchanges and partnerships between the two nations.
