Tahir Hamid Nguilin, the Minister of State overseeing Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation, co-chaired a pivotal meeting on May 22 in N’Djamena. The gathering brought together government officials, United Nations agency representatives, technical and financial partners, along with civil society leaders and private sector stakeholders to review the 2024-2026 United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) cycle.

Dr. François Batalingaya, the UN Resident Coordinator in Chad, joined the high-level session, which served a dual purpose: concluding the current cooperation cycle and launching preliminary discussions for the 2027-2030 framework.

The Minister underscored the enduring strength of Chad’s partnership with the UN system, emphasizing the strategic importance of the meeting. He highlighted that through the Chad Connexion 2030 National Development Plan, the government aims to foster a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous nation. Key priorities include human capital development, climate resilience, good governance, youth employment, and women’s empowerment.

« This steering committee session reflects our shared commitment to aligning UN interventions with Chad’s national priorities, » Tahir Hamid Nguilin stated. « By endorsing the 2026 work plans and setting the groundwork for 2027-2030, we reaffirm our dedication to inclusive growth that leaves no one behind. »

Dr. François Batalingaya echoed this sentiment, noting that the 2024-2026 cycle’s evaluation underscores the effectiveness of joint efforts. « As we close this chapter, we’re already focused on the future, » he said. « The 2027-2030 UNSDCF will embody a renewed ambition to meet Chad’s financing needs and the aspirations of its people. »

The discussions centered on lessons learned from the current cycle and strategic priorities for 2027-2030, including development financing, social inclusion, and resilience. The upcoming cooperation framework will be closely aligned with the Chad Connexion 2030 National Development Plan.
