Tribunal : Nouveau renvoi du procès opposant Ousmane Sonko à Mame Mbaye Niang

The civil proceedings pitting Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko against former minister Mame Mbaye Niang, centered on the ownership of a villa within Cité Keur Gorgui, have been further postponed. The Third Civil Chamber of the Dakar Tribunal has rescheduled the case to July 22, 2026.

Mame Mbaye Niang initiated this civil action against the leader of PASTEF, seeking to nullify what he alleges is the fraudulent transfer of his 264-square-meter villa, identified as lot n°R/17, located in Cité Keur Gorgui. This matter was initially brought before the court on Wednesday, June 10.

The former Tourism Minister is demanding the re-registration of this property under his name. This move is intended to facilitate the recovery of 200 million CFA francs in damages, which were definitively awarded to him by the Supreme Court following earlier criminal proceedings.

Legal representatives for the plaintiff assert that the transfer of the villa’s leasehold rights to the family of the current Prime Minister constitutes “a deliberate maneuver designed to orchestrate Ousmane Sonko’s insolvency and shield the asset from any potential seizure.” This particular case, which has already seen one prior adjournment, requires the civil judge to thoroughly examine the merits of the dispute after Mame Mbaye Niang’s legal team submits their rebuttals to the documents presented by Ousmane Sonko’s defense.
