The Republic of Gabon has taken a significant stride in bolstering its national security framework with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art annex for the Direction générale des Contre-Ingérences et de la Sécurité militaire (DGCISM), commonly referred to as the « B2 ». On August 13, 2026, President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema presided over the unveiling ceremony in the Bellevue 1 district of Libreville’s third arrondissement, marking a pivotal moment in the nation’s intelligence and defense capabilities.
This strategic development is part of a broader government initiative to equip public institutions with advanced operational tools. Spanning three floors with a total area of 900 m², the new facility has been meticulously designed to meet the highest standards of confidentiality and security, ensuring seamless coordination among its specialized units.
The building’s layout reflects a commitment to efficiency and collaboration. The ground floor houses the judicial investigations department, while the first level is dedicated to military security operations. The top floor accommodates the DGCISM’s central command, fostering streamlined decision-making and interdepartmental synergy.
Command leadership praises modernization drive
During the ceremony, Colonel Joseph Ondo Be, Director General of the DGCISM, conveyed the organization’s deep appreciation to the Head of State. Describing the new annex as a « strategic asset », he highlighted its transformative impact on operational conditions for intelligence personnel.
Colonel Ondo Be also pledged to uphold rigorous management of this facility, while expressing optimism about future upgrades, including the renovation of the main building, modernization of provincial branches, and renewal of the agency’s vehicle fleet.
