A high-level military delegation from Morocco, led by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, conducted a working visit to Mauritania this week.
On Tuesday in Nouakchott, General Berrid was received by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani. The meeting took place in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar, as confirmed by an official statement from the Royal Armed Forces General Staff.
Later the same day, the Moroccan general visited the Mauritanian Ministry of Defense, where he held discussions with Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. Following the meeting, the Mauritanian Defense Minister presented General Berrid with the Commander grade of the National Order of Merit, awarded on behalf of the President of the Republic.
Subsequently, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. During the talks, both sides highlighted the strong progress in defense cooperation between the two nations, calling it a model of strategic partnership. They also acknowledged the tangible outcomes of their collaborative efforts in military training, equipment exchanges, and regional security initiatives.
