Morocco and Mali inaugurate flagship vocational training center in Bamako

The Kingdom of Morocco has officially handed over the Mohammed VI Vocational Training Complex in Bamako to Malian authorities, marking a significant milestone in bilateral cooperation between the two nations. The state-of-the-art facility, developed by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sustainable Development, spans 5,200 square meters and is designed to address critical skill gaps in key economic sectors.
Training for tomorrow: addressing Africa’s skills shortage
The newly inaugurated complex will welcome up to 1,000 trainees annually across 21 specialized programs, with 12 dedicated to construction and public works, and nine focused on hospitality, tourism, and catering. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning, blending theoretical instruction with practical experience to ensure graduates are immediately employable.
This initiative responds directly to Mali’s pressing need for qualified professionals in sectors that drive economic growth. By equipping young Malians with industry-relevant skills, the project aims to reduce youth unemployment and foster sustainable development across the region.

During the handover ceremony, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita underscored the project’s alignment with King Mohammed VI’s commitment to African youth development. He highlighted that this collaboration exemplifies Morocco’s active South-South cooperation model, which prioritizes knowledge sharing, capacity building, and long-term human capital investment.
Malian Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Vocational Training Oumou Sall Seck conveyed President Assimi Goita’s deep gratitude to the Moroccan monarch. She emphasized that the training center represents a strategic investment in Mali’s future, reinforcing the country’s human capital in vital economic pillars while strengthening historical ties between the two nations.
