Morocco has firmly established itself as a key player on the global stage, excelling not only in Africa and the Arab world but also across the Mediterranean basin and worldwide.

This assessment comes from Anissa Saysay, a German politician of Moroccan descent and member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the party led by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Speaking during the Throne Day celebrations, she highlighted how the Kingdom, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has evolved into a modern, stable state and a respected international actor.

The transformation, she noted, stems from a long-term vision that prioritizes infrastructure development and economic self-reliance. High-speed rail networks, state-of-the-art ports, cutting-edge airports, industrial and technological hubs, and thriving automotive and aeronautics sectors reflect the Kingdom’s meticulous planning for the future.

Morocco’s strategic geographical and cultural position makes it a vital bridge between Europe, Africa, and the Arab world, reinforcing its political and economic influence, Saysay emphasized. The Kingdom has also become a leader in Africa’s energy transition, emerging as a critical partner for Europe in renewable energy initiatives.

On the social front, she praised Morocco’s strides in expanding social protection, healthcare access, education, and women’s rights. Turning to Moroccan-German relations, Saysay underscored their steady improvement over the years, describing Morocco as a reliable and dynamic partner for Germany in North Africa due to its stability and strategic location.

Germany, in turn, stands as a major partner for Morocco, particularly in technology, industry, vocational training, research, climate protection, and sustainable development. She advocated for an equal partnership built on mutual respect, shared interests, and genuine political dialogue.

At the heart of this collaboration, she noted, are Moroccan-German communities, whose dual perspectives can drive investment, knowledge exchange, institutional partnerships, and scientific cooperation. These communities uniquely combine German institutional expertise and technological prowess with Moroccan creativity, dynamism, and regional networks.

Saysay also stressed that the Throne Day celebrations are more than a yearly tradition—they serve as a powerful connection between Moroccans abroad and their homeland, reflecting its progress and deepening their sense of belonging.
