Following the Paris Saint-Germain’s triumph in the UEFA Champions League final, authorities reported a surge in public disturbances across France. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez addressed the media early Sunday, detailing the extensive security measures and their outcomes.

Record-breaking arrests and security challenges

Minister Nuñez confirmed that 780 individuals were detained nationwide, marking a 32% increase compared to the previous year’s celebrations after PSG’s initial Champions League victory. Out of these, 457 were placed in custody, while 57 police officers and gendarmes sustained injuries during the night’s events. In Paris alone, 416 arrests occurred, including 283 in the Greater Paris area.
