Tchad's freight sector takes digital leap with BNFT training in N'Djamena

The National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) has successfully concluded a three-day intensive training program in N’Djamena, dedicated to the digital transformation of land freight services across Tchad. Held at the Kempinski Hotel N’Djamena, the workshop brought together controllers and agents from N’Djamena and the Mayo-Kebbi region to explore cutting-edge digital tools designed to streamline transport operations.

Unveiling the future of land freight operations

During the closing ceremony, Brahim Mahamat Adoum, chair of the steering committee, praised participants for their dedication throughout the training. He highlighted the introduction of multiple modules centered on new technologies and digital freight management systems. Key topics included navigating digital interfaces, cargo declaration processes, transporter management, system configuration, and agency setups. Organizers emphasized that these innovations are set to boost administrative efficiency and enhance real-time tracking of freight operations.

Aligning with national digital transformation goals

The BNFT president underscored that this initiative is part of a broader national effort to modernize public services and accelerate Tchad’s digital evolution. He noted that the transition to digital tools is essential for more effective regulation of transport activities, particularly for mandatory documents like the Lettre de Voiture Obligatoire (LVO) and the Taxe à l’Essieu (TAE). Trainers from TRADELINK SOLUTIONS and SERVOO, technical partners in the project, were commended for their contributions during the workshop. Organizers urged participants to apply their new skills actively to support the modernization of land freight services in Tchad.

e-BNFT: A game-changer in freight documentation

Saleh Youssouf Erda, Director General of the steering committee, reiterated that the training focused on equipping agents, controllers, and representatives with the skills to use and oversee the new e-BNFT digital platform. He described this shift as a significant departure from traditional paper-based processes, paving the way for a fully digitalized freight management system. The platform now enables instant issuance and verification of critical documents such as the LVO and TAE, while facilitating seamless, contactless processing of goods transport documents via computers or mobile devices.

Strengthening state revenue and data accuracy

The Director General also emphasized the platform’s role in securing state revenue and generating reliable statistical data to inform economic policies. He framed this digital transition as a key pillar of the national modernization agenda championed by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno. Before declaring the workshop officially closed, he encouraged participants to integrate the platform into their daily routines, master its features, and share their expertise with colleagues who missed the training. The event concluded on a note of optimism, with a call to persist in overcoming the challenges of digital adoption in public administration and land freight services.
