In an interview on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, the national president of the New Popular Movement (NMP) described the Sunday guest on Info TV as a man of legendary inconsistency.

Cameroonian political figure Banda Kani is furious with tribal agitator Elimbi Lobe. During an interview broadcast on his page this Tuesday, 23 June 2026, the national president of the New Popular Movement (NMP) expressed his exasperation with Lobe, particularly after Lobe called nationalist Ernest Ouandié a ‘bandit’ on Info TV, a green-screen channel broadcasting from Yaoundé, Cameroon.

‘By calling Ouandié a bandit, Elimbi Lobe has disgraced himself,’ said pan-Africanist Banda Kani. According to him, Lobe will never achieve the stature of a strong political leader. ‘He has reduced himself to a good-for-nothing. He has become a political actor who will never have national significance in this country. He has shrunk to a small-time neighbourhood politician, a cantonal figure pursuing a strategy to become a deputy,’ Kani added.

When he was in the Sdf, could he have made such statements?

Tracing Lobe’s history, Banda Kani denounced his inconsistency, pointing out that Lobe held a different discourse when he was a militant of the Social Democratic Front (SDF). ‘He is following an electoral strategy. Read his past. Take his own words from 2011 when he was in the SDF. He praised national integration. He celebrated the role of the Bamiléké in nation-building, even saying his best friend was a Bamiléké to whom he wanted to give his son’s name,’ Kani continued.

‘In 2015, he denounced tribalists. When he was in the SDF, could he have made such remarks? The party would have stopped him. You are dealing with a small politician who thinks that if he is elected deputy, his political career will peak,’ Kani concluded.
