The government of Bénin has conveyed its unwavering solidarity to the people of Niger following the violent incidents that rocked the vicinity of Niamey’s Diori-Hamani International Airport on June 18, 2026.
In an official statement released from Cotonou, Bénin’s leadership expressed deep concern over the attack and condemned the assault on a key civilian infrastructure.
“The aggression against Niamey’s airport is a direct threat to regional stability and the safety of innocent civilians,” the statement read, underscoring Bénin’s firm stance against such acts of violence.
In a gesture of support, the Bénin government extended its solidarity not only to the Nigerien population but also to the nation’s leadership, including President Abdourahamane Tiani.
Beyond condemnation, the statement reaffirmed the enduring ties of friendship and cooperation that bind the peoples of Bénin and Niger.
