Representatives from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) emphasized the need for better coordination among international mechanisms to combat the illicit trade in minerals during a meeting at the United Nations.
The DRC’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, stressed that this was not about creating new international obligations but rather refining existing frameworks related to resource tracing, sanctions, and governance.
