WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2026/2027 – After conceding the opening goal, Barcelona stepped up and quickly put the game beyond doubt. Paris FC matched them in the second half, but the first had already decided the outcome (5-2).

While PSG earned a valuable point in Madrid and OL Lyonnes devoured Servette, Paris FC, quite logically, could not match the might of Barcelona. The defending champions and winners of four of the last six editions made short work of the third French club on this opening matchday.

Barcelona respond after falling behind

Yet, against all expectations, it was Paris FC who broke the deadlock through new signings Mariam Toloba and Evelyne Viens. The former Nantes player capitalised on a poor Spanish throw-in to release the Canadian, who used her power to shrug off Paredes and Martina before finishing past Cata Coll. A cold silence fell over the Spanish stadium, but Barcelona were quick to restore order. Forty minutes later, the damage was already heavy (4-1).

After being called into action several times, Chavas finally conceded to Kerolin (18th minute). Completely unmarked at the far post from a corner, Serrajordi pounced to put Barcelona ahead before Graham Hansen delivered another inch-perfect cross, this time for Pajor. With two assists to her name, the Norwegian then got on the scoresheet herself for Barcelona’s fourth just before the break. It was all too fast for the Parisians, who were technically outclassed.

Second half ends 1-1

Although they could not overturn the defending champions, Paris FC matched them over the remaining 45 minutes. The pressing was more intense and better coordinated, preventing Barcelona from playing their game after the restart. But while the Parisian defence looked more solid, the attack still lacked a cutting edge. And after wasting chances, the hosts made them pay.

From a fine piece of play by Sydney Schertenleib, Pajor completed her brace (70th minute). The Parisians continued to push and were rewarded. Clara Mateo needed two attempts but pulled one back shortly after. The visitors won the second half 1-1, but the first had been fatal. The worst is over for Paris FC. Now they must face Arsenal next week…
