Revolutionary media training alliance launches in Tchad
A groundbreaking partnership between ISJCT and AMET is transforming media education in Tchad through internships, continuous training, and professional development programs for journalists.
N’Djamena, August 6, 2026 – The Superior Institute of Journalism and Communication of Tchad (ISJCT) and the Association of Online Media of Tchad (AMET) have formalized a strategic alliance in N’Djamena. This collaboration bridges the gap between academic training and professional media practice, setting the stage for sustainable improvements in Tchadian journalism quality.
The agreement includes provisions for ISJCT students to complete professional internships within AMET member outlets, directly connecting classroom learning with real-world media operations. Additionally, the partnership will amplify ISJCT’s visibility through AMET’s extensive network of media professionals.
Comprehensive training program unveiled
The two organizations will jointly develop a robust continuing education initiative targeting journalists, editors-in-chief, newsroom managers, and media executives. The curriculum will cover essential contemporary topics including modern journalistic practices, digital journalism, fact-checking methodologies, newsroom management strategies, media business models, artificial intelligence applications, ethical standards, journalist safety protocols, and other pressing industry challenges.
Visionary leaders praise transformative initiative
Mahamat Mamadou Djimtebaye, ISJCT project representative, emphasized the critical nature of this collaboration: “Academic journalism training cannot thrive in isolation. Media organizations serve as our pedagogical partners, practical training grounds, and future employers for our graduates.”
Bello Bakary Mana, AMET president, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, noting that it creates pathways for media companies to shape the next generation of journalists while providing current professionals with valuable skill-enhancement opportunities. “This partnership with ISJCT brings excellence within reach for Tchadian media,” he stated.
Institutional backing and ambitious timeline
The ISJCT project, supported by the Swiss Cooperation, GIZ, and DW Akademie through the MEDEV NGO, is scheduled to welcome its inaugural class of students in October 2026. The institute aspires to become a regional leader in journalism education, research innovation, and professional development across journalism, communication, and media management disciplines.
As Tchad’s first higher education institution dedicated exclusively to journalism, communication, and media management studies, ISJCT represents a significant advancement in the country’s media landscape.
