World Vision Tchad has unveiled a groundbreaking five-year strategy designed to reshape the future of the nation’s most vulnerable children. The initiative, spanning 2026 to 2030, sets an ambitious goal: improving the lives of 3.29 million children across the country, with 3.09 million of them falling into high-risk categories. This integrated approach merges humanitarian aid with sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts to create lasting change.

The launch event, held in N’Djamena, brought together journalists, development partners, financial backers, and government officials to introduce the strategy. Carla Dominique Denizard, West Africa Regional Director for World Vision, described the plan as both bold and pioneering. She emphasized its foundation on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, a framework designed to bridge emergency response with long-term growth and stability.
Denizard highlighted the urgency of addressing Chad’s most pressing challenges—from deep-rooted poverty and chronic malnutrition to climate-induced displacement and insecurity. She stressed that every child in Chad deserves not just survival, but the chance to thrive, and that achieving this requires strong partnerships, grassroots engagement, and cultural sensitivity.
She also connected the strategy to broader continental and global frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (specifically ODD 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s own Vision 2030. Key priorities include human capital development, social protection, climate adaptation, literacy enhancement through the Unlock Literacy program, and safeguarding children from violence and exploitation.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the strategy a « historic milestone » for the organization and the children it serves. He noted that this plan represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, reflecting a commitment to deepen impact across health, nutrition, education, and climate resilience.
He pointed to sobering statistics: nearly 42% of Chad’s population lives below the poverty line, intensifying the need for urgent and sustained intervention. The strategy responds by prioritizing integrated health and nutrition programs, especially for mothers and young children; expanding access to quality early education; protecting children from abuse, trafficking, and child labor; and empowering communities to adapt to climate shocks.

Following the launch, World Vision Tchad appealed to all national stakeholders—government agencies, technical partners, financial donors, civil society groups, religious and community leaders, and the media—to join forces in implementing the plan. The organization believes that only through unified action can the current crises be transformed into sustainable opportunities for children.
