Brest to pay tribute to Éric Roy as PSG clash approaches
Three months after the tragic passing of Éric Roy, Stade Brestois has announced a special tribute to honor the former coach during their upcoming Ligue 1 clash against Paris Saint-Germain on matchday four.
The Stade Brestois 29 announced the tribute in a club statement, emphasizing the depth of Roy’s legacy. « The club wishes this tribute to reflect the profound impact Éric Roy made on the club’s history, as well as the deep respect held by his family, friends, the entire club staff, and the people of Brest. »
Initially, the club had planned to honor Éric Roy during earlier home fixtures at Francis-Le Blé Stadium. However, logistical challenges prevented the desired gathering of supporters. The recent closure of the Quimper stand, due to pyrotechnic incidents during a match against Toulouse FC, further complicated plans. Brest ultimately decided to postpone the tribute until the highly anticipated PSG match, ensuring the most fitting tribute to Roy’s memory.
