Cameroon and Chad: military alliance solidified after May 20 unity celebrations

On the heels of the 54th National Unity Day celebrations, Cameroon and Chad have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening military and diplomatic collaboration. Mr. Beti Assomo Joseph, Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of Defense, hosted General Issakha Malloua Djamous, Chad’s Minister of National Defense, Veterans, and War Victims, in Yaoundé on May 21.
The high-level meeting at the Ministry of Defense marked a significant step toward strengthening bilateral relations. Discussions centered on deepening defense partnerships and addressing regional security threats that impact both nations. The meeting underscored the long-standing camaraderie between the Cameroonian and Chadian armed forces.
Led by General Issakha Malloua Djamous, the Chadian delegation was received with warmth and mutual respect. The talks focused on expanding cooperation between Cameroon’s and Chad’s defense forces while addressing the security challenges facing Central Africa. Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to bolster regional stability.
