The German club is not planning a definitive sale but has instead agreed in principle to a loan deal, with an additional purchase option still under discussion. This arrangement follows a series of transactions between Dortmund and Manchester City, where Couto was initially loaned to the Bundesliga side in 2024 before an obligatory purchase clause was triggered in the summer of 2025.
