The Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) has strongly refuted circulating reports claiming the death of Sidna Ag Hita, a key lieutenant to Iyad Ag Gali and the group’s second-in-command. The denial followed claims that Ag Hita was killed in a recent airstrike conducted by African forces in the Diabali region of central Mali.

Reliable sources within the armed group confirmed that Ag Hita remains alive and in full health. They emphasized that the unverified reports lacked credible evidence, noting that no official statement from JNIM has confirmed his death or injury.

Meanwhile, the African Legion released a statement on Wednesday detailing a nighttime operation in which an airstrike and rocket fire targeted a rural camp reportedly used by the armed group on May 27. The statement indicated that intelligence suggested Ag Hita was present at the site during the attack.
